• Led the move from an on-premises phone system to a cloud contact center on Amazon Connect.
• Managed two engineering teams responsible for our Single View of Customer system and cloud contact center technology.
• Technical manager for a $100 million+ replacement of a legacy commercial policy administration system, covering 11 lines of business, with a customized Guidewire PolicyCenter. Gave technical direction to more than 50 onshore and offshore developers and 10 technical leads over three years.
• Built the initial estimates for that multi-year replacement and took them to senior leadership to set budget, scope and timeline. Introduced technical briefs for each change so estimates stayed realistic.
• Rallied developers and IT staff across the company to resolve the unexpected issues of go-live weekend.
• Created the technical design template and the design and code review processes, and set practices that raised code quality across more than 15 offshore developers.
• Improved the interview process for consultants and employees, which led to stronger hires.
• Managed vendor relationships including Amazon Connect, ISO, Marshall & Swift/Boeckh and Polk, and met with Guidewire's core product engineers on implementation challenges.

• Java and Guidewire PolicyCenter developer on the Scrum project replacing the legacy policy administration system.
• Designed and built a common Java messaging framework on WebSphere MQ and JMS, supporting synchronous and asynchronous calls, used to publish policy forms and integrate other systems.

Senior System Architect

Mar 2008 – Mar 2010

• Consultant helping clients adopt Oracle Fusion Middleware, especially BPEL, and Oracle Identity Management (OIM and OAAM), including training their staff and writing the documentation they maintained the systems with.
• Built a customer data hub in BPEL that moved data from Oracle E-Business Suite to mainframes, web services, queues and other databases.
• Led a team through a complete customization of an Oracle Identity Manager installation, and mentored a client's developers through an OAAM rollout.
• Presented case studies to the Missouri Oracle Middleware User Group in St. Louis (2008) and at Oracle Tech Day in Milwaukee (2009).

Senior Systems Analyst

Nov 2002 – Mar 2008

• Core architect of the Fiserv Health Services portal on Apache Jetspeed. Added Struts portlet support and contributed work back to the open source project.
• Wrote a multi-threaded batch program that processed more than 5,000 claims in 40 minutes, work that had taken a full-time employee all day.
• Built the LDAP authentication module used by most intranet applications, and single sign-on for the portal and other web applications.
• Introduced open source tools to the web team, including Hibernate, OJB, Tomcat, Axis, Castor and JBoss. Served as web server administrator and led projects start to finish.

Senior Programmer Analyst

Jan 2001 – Nov 2002

• Java developer on the web replacement of a legacy warehouse system, building EJBs and a Struts front end after starting on the AS/400 COBOL version.
• Created and taught a Struts training class for other Kraft developers.
